My Mantra
Having "greater willpower" or more "control" over food is not the answer! Your unique relationship to food and its connection to family of origin, automatic responses to stress, and underlying beliefs can cause self-sabotage in this area.
Experience
I was in the fitness/health industry for 10 years as a personal trainer/fitness instructor, fitness director and continuing education course instructor at community colleges. As a Registered Dietitian for 10 years, I have worked alongside MD's prescribing Medical Nutrition Therapy and Naturopathic remedies, developed worksite wellness programs for government employees, and opened my private practice in 2015. In 2018, I decided to start functional medicine training after discovering I had Celiac Disease without any gastrointestinal distress! My symptoms were 100% neurological! (Depression, anxiety, fatigue, low blood sugar and binge eating!). I decided I NEEDED to help others uncover underlying contributing factors to neurological symptoms! So here I am :)
I earned a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics from Montclair State University, completed my Dietetic Internship and became an RD through UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry). After 5 years of practicing as an RD, specializing in Gastrointestinal disease and Eating disorders, I became a certified Dietitian in Functional Medicine (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) and completed coursework through IFM (The Institute for Functional Medicine). Having this training and experience, I was able to help diagnose/treat my son with LYME disease and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). Since his diagnosis, my passion has also been to help parents, patients, and other health care providers determine/treat root causes of unexplained symptoms (tics, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, restrictive eating, sensory sensitivities, ext.)
Currently, (2023) I am completing my Fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry with Psychiatry Redefined. The focus is on nutritional Psychiatry which allows me to help patients with alternative approaches to mental health by digging deeper into root causes /factors and treatment of the WHOLE person, not just a diagnoses.

I am passionate about educating students and other practitioners. I serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns. I also teach physicians how to screen for nutrition related illnesses, interpret nutrition related labs and incorporate nutrition remedies into practice. When I am not working, you can find me at the beach with my family, dancing, surfing, practicing yoga and creating allergen free recipes to share!
